Biography

Laurabel Mba is a DEI and anti-racism consultant, speaker, and community leader based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is the founder of Laurabel Mba Consulting, where she works with organizations and communities to create equity-centered cultures rooted in belonging, care, and accountability. In 2025, Laurabel made history as the first Black person to run provincially in Newfoundland and Labrador, leading a campaign focused on affordability, inclusive leadership, and community well-being. Her work spans keynote speaking, strategic advisory, training, and public policy advocacy. Laurabel is known for making complex conversations accessible, inspiring action through storytelling, and creating spaces where people feel seen and empowered. She is also the host of the “Courageous Conversations” podcast and has been recognized nationally for her leadership and impact. At her core, Laurabel believes that change begins with people — and that community is our greatest source of power.
