Biography
Hillary King has been working in the startup space for over 5 years, and began her work in affordable housing in late 2020. She is excited to continue her work in this space with her latest pursuit, the co-founding of Reclaim Community CDO. Hillary has training in Sociocratic Governance (a model of spread authority) and is lead facilitator for many of Cohousing NL’s working circles, set up to collaboratively develop the housing project with prospective residents. Hillary shares these roles with her work in the Study and Stay NL program as Retention Coordinator supporting international students to establish businesses in Canada, gain employment within the province, and settle here long-term. She is very passionate about the future of the province and how she can play a role in that from the housing and international education perspectives.
Meeting Description
After developing communities, both literally and figuratively, this presentation will share the impact that building more meaningful connections with those around you can have on your mental wellbeing. Following my work in both international education and community-led development, we will explore what I have learned and how it has shaped my view on myself, the people around me, and what one can do to be resilient in moving forward.
